The Lower Foods Story

The Lower Family has been involved in the meat processing business for four generations. Our company originated in Smithfield, Utah in the early 1920’s as a custom-cut and sausage facility. The family sold its slaughter and packing plant and now focuses on our processing facility located in Richmond, Utah. We have added a raw processing facility on the North side of the property. This permanently separates the raw and cooked processing into separate plants for food safety. It expands our capacity allowing us to stay ahead of our customers ever changing needs.
We process whole, sliced, and shredded beef, pork and poultry for both retail and food service customers. Due to customer requests, we have added new poultry items and continued to make many pork items as well as expanding our Hispanic menu offerings. Alan Lower is the current President of Lower Foods.
Lower products are all quality oriented and use only the finest raw materials. Old world workmanship and cooking methods guarantee repeat sales. These are truly consistent quality products you can be proud to provide to your customers.
All Beef items are packed under full time USDA Federal Inspection. We operate as an Alternative I plant to insure product confidence and safety. We pack private label and control label for companies such as Sysco Foodservice, Super Valu, Kroger, Associated Food Stores, and many others. Our plant is audited and inspected by independent auditors from several different companies each year, including Silliker Labs.
We Open Oven Roast all our main line products for Old Fashioned flavor and appearance. We use no MSG in our plant. Most of our open roasted items are trimmed to qualify as 96-97% Fat Free. Our new state of the art facility will allow us to continue to bring new and innovative products to our customers.
